【Recommended by locals】 Three recommended gourmet shops and restaurants in Taisho Ward|Sweets

sweets (desserts, candy, etc.)

In the article previously posted,
【Recommended by locals】Three recommended gourmet restaurants around Taisho Station!|When in doubt, go to these restaurants first!
, I introduced you three recommended restaurants in the Taisho Station area.

This time, I will show you three sweet stores.

I was actually planning to introduce sweets stores located in the Taisho Station area.
However, because all three selected stores are far from Taisho Station,
I have changed the title of the article to “within Taisho Ward” instead of around Taisho Station.

They are far from the station, which may be inconvenient.
However, the three shops that I will show you have wonderful products
that make you forget about the inconvenience.

This article is intended for the following people
・Those who stay at “Hotel Sobial Osaka Dome-mae” located next to Taisho Station, and look for restaurants and sweets shops around Taisho Statio.

・Those who work in Taisho Ward and look for a restaurant near Taisho Station or in Taisho Ward.
・Those who are interested in Taisho Ward

By reading this article, you will discover some of the best hidden sweet stores in Taisho Ward.

Also, all of the stores I present are located in residential areas away from the station.
It also offers a glimpse into the lives of local Taisho Ward residents.

I hope you will enjoy the delicious sweets and feel the unique atmosphere of Taisho Ward.

Thank you again for your cooperation.

Sweets shops near Taisho Station

As I mentioned at the beginning of this article,
all three restaurants introduced here are located away from Taisho Station.
For this reason, I will not provide details about the sweets stores in the Taisho Station area in this article.

However, I thought it would be a good idea not to introduce them at all,
This section will briefly introduce some of them.

Fujiya Taisho Store

One sweets store near Taisho Station that cannot be missed is Fujiya Taisho.
Peko-chan” is a very famous character of Fujiya. It is long-established food manufacturer that is well-known to everyone.

“Peko-chan”

In addition to manufacturing and selling confectionery, it also runs coffee shops and restaurants.
It has a long history and was founded in 1910.

If you have trouble choosing a pastry, just go here for now.
You can buy delicious sweets at affordable prices.
I, hiikun, also occasionally buy cakes, puddings, cookies, etc. at Fujiya.

These are two things that I definitely buy.

mille crepe (French cake made from layers of crepes)

This crepe cake is composed of layers of crepe dough and custard cream.

I’ve eaten mille crepes from many different restaurants.
So far, in my opinion, Fujiya’s one is the best .

Click here for the official Fujiya website.

Peko-chan’s cheeks (chocolate flavor)

It is fluffy chocolate sponge dough with honey
filled with chocolate cream.
As the product name “Peko-chan’s cheeks” suggests,
it has a fluffy texture similar to Peko-chan’s cheeks.

Proceeding south from Taisho Station…
You will see a takoyaki shop on your right.
To the right of that takoyaki shop is…

the bakery “chabi”.
It is a small store, but has a large selection.
Because of its proximity to the station, many commuters stop by the bakery on weekday mornings to purchase bread.
I, hiikun, also stop by from time to time to buy breads, pastries and sandwiches for lunch.

There are a few more, but I will not talk about them as it is off topic.
Let’s take a look at the shops that I, hiikun, recommended.

Directions to the nearest bus stop to the stores I am about to introduce.

The three stores introduced here are all located away from Taisho Station.
It is possible to go on foot, but it would take too long.
Cabs, on the other hand, cost too much money (although if you split the cost, it won’t be a problem).

Therefore, I suggest that you travel by bus.
Taisho Ward is not served by a railroad except for some areas in the northern part of the city.

To get to the center or the southern part of the city, you must take a bus.
But don’t worry!
There are plenty of buses available both during the day and at night, so you don’t have to wait long to get on.
The fare is 210 yen for adults and must be paid at the time of drop-off.

There are many Osaka City Bus stops in front of the station.
Taishobashi stop.

Please take the bus bound for Tsurumachi 4-chome, which arrives at the No. 2 bus stop immediately after exiting the station.
The buses run very frequently.

Although they run less frequently,
you can go to the destination by bus
which comes at the No. 4 stop, bound for Nishi Funamachi,
and the No. 5 stop, bound for Suminoe Koen.
Bus stops marked with yellow circle correspond to them.

Please refer to this page for the timetable.

Now let’s get on the bus and go to the recommended stores.

Patisserie Lier

The first one I would like to introduce is Patisserie Lier.

A variety of cakes, cookies, puddings, and other sweets are sold.
There is a hair salon near here that I go to, so I always stop by here after getting my hair cut.
I buy something there and go home.

Now let’s actually go there.

A 12-minute ride on the Osaka City Bus from Taisho Station.
I come to the Hirao stop.

From here it is only one minute to Patisserie Lier.

Go straight down the street between the okonomiyaki restaurant and Lawson.

Continue to the second corner and you will see it on the right.
This is Patisserie Lier.

It is a small store, but once inside you will be surprised at the number of products available.
The store is loved by the locals.
Please visit the inside to see for yourself.

I bought the following three items when I visited the shop.
Let’s look at them in order.

This product is called Ozabu.
It is a pie pastry similar to a zabuton floor cushion.
A crispy pie crust filled with cream.

They fill the pie with cream to order.
It is nice to be served in a crispy state.

First is the standard custard cream (300 yen).
It is not too sweet and you can taste the eggs.
It is very tasty with a nice combination of cream and dough.

In addition to custard cream, I also bought a miniature “Ozabu” chocolate cream (130 yen).
Like the custard, it is also excellent.

The next product I would like to show you is this.

It is “Yuimaru”.
This cake is made with “seekwasa” citrus fruits produced in Okinawa and other regions.
Taisho Ward is where many people from Okinawa and their descendants live.
Therefore, there are many stores related to Okinawa.
Patisserie Lier also offers several products related to Okinawa.
Among them, I, hiikun, recommend “Yuimaru” here.

Here is what the box looks like inside.
It is also sold individually (250 yen), though,
On this day, I purchased a six-pack (1,700 yen).
Also available in packs of 12.

I often hear the word “yuimaru”.
However, I did not know the exact meaning of this word.
As written on the box, it means “bonding” or “helping each other” in the Okinawan dialect.
We would like to provide you with useful information
so that my articles will be a “bridge” that connects my readers and me.

“Seekwasa”-flavored icing covers the entire cake.
The dough is soft and moist.
You can feel the sourness and sweetness of “Seekwasa”.

Patisserie Lia also offers a wide variety of baked goods such as cookies and financiers.
We also carry cookies (180 yen/piece) with cute characters on them, such as the following
Why don’t you give it to your loved one together with the “Yuimaru” introduced earlier?
I am sure that they will like these products.

These are just a few of the materials used.
It is a very simple cookie.
It has a subtle buttery flavor and just the right amount of sweetness.

Of the stores introduced here, this is the furthest away from Taisho Station.
However, it is worth visiting.
I will not make you regret it.
If you have time to spare, by all means visit this shop.
Click here to visit the official website of Lier.

Now let’s move on to the second case.

Nouka no minori, Farmer’s fruit

The next item we will introduce is “Noka no minori”, farmer’s fruit.
The store offers sweets and beverages made with fresh fruits directly from farmers all over Japan.

Tarts, crepes, jellies, soft serve ice cream, sandwiches,
Smoothies, 100% fresh squeezed juice, etc…

The variety is astonishing.

Now let’s actually go there.

8 minutes by bus from Taisho Station,
I come to the “Taisho Kuyakusho Mae” stop.

After getting off the bus, go straight.

Taisho Ward Office is on the right.
Go straight anyway.

And then…

You can see the stairs in the back center.
Climb up.

You will see a slope up the stairs, which you should also climb.
When you finish the climb, keep left.

Go straight until you see a gray sign in the back that says “HONPO LAB”.
Then turn right and go straight.

You can see some kind of forest-like area.
I will tell you about this later.
Go straight anyway.

On the way, you will see a downhill slope on your left.
And down it goes…

Now, the desired store is in sight.
There is no crosswalk in front of the store.
This street has heavy vehicle traffic during the day.
It is dangerous to force the crossing.

After a short distance to the right, cross the street at the pedestrian crossing.

The store is small, but it carries a large number of products.

The signs in front of the store list a variety of delicious-looking items.
The products presented here are only a small part of the list.
I was amazed at the variety of products in the menu.

I, hiikun, ordered the following items

Strawberry tart (¥590) and strawberry smoothie (¥550).
The strawberries are Amaou*. *registered trademark of the strawberry developed in Fukuoka Prefecture

The custard cream and whipped cream used in the tart are not too sweet.
The moderately sweet cream and dough enhance the deliciousness of the strawberries.
It was lighter than I expected and tasted good.

The strawberry smoothie was also delicious.
Like the tart, the sweetness is moderate, allowing the true flavor of strawberries to shine through.
No unnatural sweetness from sugar or other seasonings is perceived.
The feeling of refreshment after finishing the drink is great.

While I was enjoying the tart and the smoothie,
The store staff was happy to provide ・・・・

I got a sorbet made from Hyuganatsu, a citrus fruit native to Miyazaki Prefecture.
The exact reason why they offered it for free is unknown.

It was raining when I visit the shop.
By any chance can I get any benefits if I go on a rainy day?

Anyway, I was lucky enough to get a free sorbet.
It was light and delicious.

The strawberry tart was delicious,
I bought one other tart that looked delicious and took it home.
They put it in a cute little box.

Now let’s open it.

I wonder what’s inside.

Inside the box was a fruit tart with lots of filling.

This box is really nice.
It is not just cute.
It is convenient because the box can be used as a plate as it is.
I appreciate it very much because I find dishwashing a big hassle.

It looks great.
It is so cute that I hesitate to eat it.

Like the strawberry tart I had at the restaurant, the cream and custard cream are moderately sweet.
You can taste many fruits at once.
It is a perfect combination of savory and crunchy texture and cream.

I also purchased the following items along with the fruit tarts

I also bought some other simple milk-flavored cookies.
Normally it is 290 yen, but since it was about to expire, it was sold at 100 yen discount.

This jelly (550 yen) is made from “dekopon,” a citrus fruit produced in Kumamoto Prefecture.
This one was also about to expire, so I bought it at a 100 yen discount.

Alghough it is a small effort,
I try to contribute to the reduction of food waste as much as possible
by buying products that are about to expire.

It is expensive for a jelly, 550 yen, but I made the right decision to buy it.
The original flavor of the dekopon is well utilized,
It was crisp and tasty.

For me, hiikun, who always tries to buy Japanese food products,
I appreciate the existence of such a store.
We will continue to support Japanese production farmers
by buying and eating sweets made from Japanese fruits.

Now let’s move on to the third house.

Kamadashi Pan Kobo Ronparu

The last store we will introduce is “Kamadashi Pan Kobo Ronparu”.
It is a long-established bakery in Taisho Ward, established in 1971.
Although it has been in business for more than 50 years, it still enjoys strong support from the local community.

Actually, this store…

It is located directly across the street from the second restaurant introduced, “Nouka no minori”.

Here is Ron Pal’s popular product, the Honey Donut.

Like the second shop I introduced, it is a very small store.
However, the variety of breads they offer is astonishing.

Not only the popular product “Honey Donuts,” but also standard items such as anpan, melon bread, cream buns and croissants, as well as sandwiches and prepared breads.

You are sure to find the bread you want here.

I visited it around 2:00 PM.
I was just hungry and decided to buy lunch here.

Of course, I bought the “honey donut”.
Besides that, I bought two kinds of bread.

We then headed to a place and decided to eat bread there.

In the next section, I will show you the location and the bread I purchased.

Showazan

After purchasing the bread, the place I headed for was Showazan mountain.
It is located in Chishima Park, almost in the center of Taisho Ward.

Mountains in Osaka City? I am sure many of you must be wondering if there is a mountain in Osaka City?
Of course, it is not a naturally formed mountain.
It is an artificial mountain.

The elevation is 33 meters and you can reache the summit in less than 10 minutes.

I saw many people walking, jogging, and walking their dogs.
I, hiikun, was a member of the track team in junior high school.
We usually practiced inside the school, but occasionally we would practice at Showazan.
There are walking and jogging trails in Chishima Park.
We used to run around there or run up to the top at once.
We used to train hard there.

Every time I come here, it brings back memories of my junior high school days.

This is the summit.
Fortunately, the weather was clear and I were able to enjoy a rather beautiful view.

Abeno Harukas* can be seen in the back. *Second tallest building in Japan (excluding tower)

As the sign in the center says, the elevation is 33 meters.

Now let’s eat bread while enjoying the spectacular view.

Here’s what I got first…

Fried shrimp sandwich (300 yen).
A dish of fried shrimp and egg salad sandwiched together.

The next item I got was the egg and vegetable sandwich (270 yen).
Even when I go to the bakery, I don’t neglect my vegetable intake.

And here is the last one I got.

The “honey donut” (130 yen).
I bought two Honey Donuts.

Ron Pal is currently operating only one store, though,
It used to have several stores in Taisho Ward.
One of them was located in a shopping district near my birthplace.

I remember going to Rompal as a kid and buying “honey donuts” to eat.
It was a thankful existence for the children of the time because they were able to purchase it within the allowance.
For me, hiikun, it is a taste of memories.

A simple donut of yeast dough covered with honey.
The aroma of honey whets our appetite.

Recalling visiting showazan for track and field practice in junior high school
and going to Ron Pal’s as a kid to buy honey doughnuts,
I enjoyed the delicious meal.

Click here to visit Ron Pal’s Instagram account.

summary

The following three restaurants were introduced in this issue.

Patisserie Lier
Nouka no minori, Farmer’s Fruit
Kamadashi Pan Kobo, Ronparu

All of the stores are very unique and offer a wide variety of delicious products.
It is far from Taisho Station, but it is worth visiting.

On the way to each store, you can catch a glimpse of local people’s lives around each store.
I recommend that you eat products from the restaurants I have mentioned
while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere that is different from that of tourist spots.

Showazan is a perfect example.
Isn’t it great to enjoy the spectacular view
while eating delicious bread, cakes, cookies, etc?

If you have a chance, please visit these three shops.

Thank you again for reading to the end.
